Learn About Injection Molding for Your Plastics Needs
Injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten plastic material into a mold. The method offers many advantages, including a wide range of materials to choose from, excellent strength, efficient, fast production and low labor expense even at high-output production rates. Additionally the design flexibility allows for inserts to be included in the design, and it offers color control and strong product consistency.
Material for the part is fed into a heated hopper, where it is mixed and injected into a mold cavity of, where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the cavity. The mold is created from steel or aluminum from a design usually made by an industrial designer or an engineer and precision-machined to form the features of the desired part.
Injection molding is used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from full automotive body panels to tiny components.
